There are two chimneys on the house: one that will be used for the wood-pellet furnace and another one that will be for the fireplace or stove that will be in the living room. The first chimney (for the furnace) was built at the same time as the South-East facing stone wall as the conduit was half-embedded into the wall. The outside part of that chimney is made of stone.
The second chimney, being positioned in the center of the roof, could not be built of stones: too heavy. We opted for a wood frame that would be covered with zinc sheets, just like what we used on either side of the dormer window. We kept the same traditional look for the chimney cap so it would not look to disparate next to the stone chimney.
